# Website analytics Track Opser apps and other websites, understand traffic metrics, and review privacy and access. Source: https://docs.opser.com/capabilities/analytics/ ## Track your website traffic Analytics shows visitors, pageviews, traffic sources, campaigns, countries, devices, and custom events for your websites. Open **Analytics** from your workspace's apps to choose a website and explore its dashboard. If the app is missing, install it from the App Store or ask an admin. Tracking must be available in your workspace's region. Analytics starts collecting after you enable tracking; adding a website does not recover earlier traffic. ## Enable tracking for an Opser app Open a published [external app](https://docs.opser.com/capabilities/external-apps/), select its **Analytics** section, and turn on tracking. Opser adds the tracker automatically: you do not need to edit code or republish. You can also find your workspace's Opser apps and their tracking switches under **Add website** in Analytics. Open the website's dashboard in Analytics to see its traffic. Turn tracking off from the external app's page when you want to stop collecting. Its tracked domains follow the app's domains. ## Connect a website hosted elsewhere In Analytics, choose **Add website**, enter a name and the domains to track, and create the website. Open its setup or website settings to copy the tracking snippet. Paste the exact snippet into the head of every page, or the shared layout, then publish your website changes. The snippet contains your website's identifier and the correct collector address. Alternatively, choose **Copy prompt** under **Let your AI agent set it up** and give it to an agent that can edit your website's code. The prompt includes the snippet and installation instructions. Ask the agent to show what it changed and verify the published site. Visit the public site in a normal browser. The dashboard waits for the first recorded visit; localhost visits and automated browsers are ignored. Do not install a second snippet on an Opser app whose tracking switch is already on. ## Understand the figures Choose a period and compare it with the previous period of the same length. Dates follow the workspace's time zone, set under **Settings → Organization**. Click a page, source, campaign, country, or device to filter the dashboard. | Metric | What it means | | --- | --- | | Visitors | Anonymous device-and-browser counts per day. A person returning tomorrow counts again; this is not a count of unique people. | | Visits | Groups of activity that end after 30 minutes without events. | | Pageviews | Recorded page loads and supported single-page navigation changes. | | Views per visit | Average pageviews per visit. | | Bounce rate | Percentage of visits with one pageview and no further events. | | Visit duration | Average time between a visit's first and last recorded events. A visit with only one event has zero duration. | | Live visitors | Visitors recorded in the last five minutes. | Detailed data covers the last 13 months. Agents can also read older monthly summaries. Large queries may use sampled data; treat figures marked approximate as estimates. ## Privacy and access The tracker uses no cookies or browser storage to identify visitors. IP addresses are used to determine country and generate an anonymous daily code, then discarded. The code changes daily and is specific to each website. Statistics stay in the workspace's region. Known bots are excluded. Keep personal information out of custom event names and properties. Use **Analytics → Settings** to review the privacy explanation and pageview allowance. The permission `analytics.view` allows reading websites and statistics; `analytics.manage` allows managing tracked websites. External-app tracking controls require `external-apps.manage`. An agent also needs access to the Analytics app. An admin manages grants under [Settings → Permissions](https://docs.opser.com/workspace/permissions/). ## Ask your agent about traffic > Compare our website's traffic over the last 30 days with the previous period. Show the top pages and sources, and tell me whether any figures are approximate. Name the website when you track several. Analytics tools read statistics; they do not change tracking settings. Custom events appear after your website code sends them, so describe the action you want measured when asking an agent to implement one. ## If no traffic appears Check that tracking is enabled, the website is published, and the visited domain is listed. For another host, check that the snippet appears once in the published pages and that the browser can load it. A blocked tracker, local test, or automated visit will not prove tracking works. If Analytics reports that the service is unavailable, ask your admin to check regional availability. If collecting is paused because of the pageview allowance, review **Analytics → Settings** and [Plans & credits](https://docs.opser.com/billing/usage/): unpaid usage can pause collection after a grace period. Missing visits during a pause are not backfilled.
