Attach your spreadsheet or identify the app data to use. Name the relevant sheets, the meaning of each column, and the output you want.
Clean this customer export. Normalize whitespace, identify duplicate email addresses, and create a separate sheet listing proposed merges. Preserve the original rows.
For calculations, state the units, currencies, date interpretation, and rounding rules. Ask the agent to explain important formulas and assumptions.
Analyze and create
The spreadsheet capability supports working with tabular files and producing spreadsheet artifacts. Use it for comparisons, reconciliations, planning tables, and exports. The agent may use supporting code to process larger or more involved datasets in its workspace.
A generated spreadsheet file is an artifact you can download or store. If your workspace has an app for collaborative documents, tell the agent whether you want an editable record in that app or a downloadable file.
Check the workbook
Open the finished file and inspect the sheet names, headers, totals, formulas, and formats. Test a few known rows. Review date and decimal conventions when data comes from different locales.
Complex source workbooks can contain features that do not survive every transformation. Keep an original copy and explicitly call out formulas, formatting, or workbook features that must be preserved.
Move from analysis to action
Once the result is approved, ask the agent to update the relevant app records or save the output to the right location. A spreadsheet analysis does not itself update the system of record.
