Keep a task in context, organize ongoing work, and make your requests easier to act on.

Start and continue a conversation

Open your agent and start a new chat. Use one conversation for a coherent task: an investigation, a document, or a change you want to make. Follow-up messages let the agent refine the work with the context already in that conversation.

The conversation can include your messages, attachments, agent replies, questions, tool activity, and approval requests. Expand tool activity when you need to understand what the agent read or changed. A reply describing a proposed action is not proof that the action has finished; check the tool result and the resulting record.

Write a useful brief

Include four things when they matter:

Next to its avatar, the agent asks who will use the portal. Customers is selected; partners and the team are other options.

  1. Outcome: what you want at the end.
  2. Source: which app, records, file, or connection to use.
  3. Constraints: deadlines, audience, format, and changes to avoid.
  4. Review point: what you want to approve before the agent continues.

Answer clarification questions directly. If the agent chooses the wrong record, identify the correct one using its name and another distinguishing detail.

Organize projects

Use projects to group conversations that belong to the same ongoing effort. A project helps you return to the work without searching through unrelated chats. Keep durable facts in Context or a shared knowledge app as appropriate; do not rely on a long conversation as the only record of a business decision.

Projects belong to the selected agent. For a shared agent, project conversations and their attached files form part of that shared work. Use your personal agent when the material is intended only for your own workflow. Switching the selected agent changes which projects you are browsing.

Files and interruptions

Attach relevant files to the request, and use the agent’s Files area for its workspace. You can stop a running response when the task needs to change. Stopping a response does not undo actions that already completed.

For unexpected failures, check approvals, access, and connections before retrying a write. See troubleshooting for a checklist that avoids duplicate changes.

Talk instead of typing

When the input is empty, choose the voice waveform button to talk with your agent about CRM records, deals, tasks, or other connected apps. Your speech and the agent’s reply appear in the conversation, alongside tool activity and approvals. Voice stays connected as you navigate. Before your first call, review the credit rate; live audio uses workspace credits even with a connected ChatGPT subscription. See Voice conversations for controls, voice previews, billing, and microphone access.
